GP Strategies Government Solutions, Inc. has an opening for a Vice President, Finance and Accounting. This is a remote position. However, candidates need to be within a commuting distance to Columbia, MD office as they will need to go into the office once per month. The position will have 7-9 direct reports.

Position Overview:

GP Strategies Government Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Vice President of Finance and Accounting to lead the financial and accounting operations of a $50M+ annual revenue, 400-employee U.S. government contractor. The Vice President of Finance at will be responsible for ensuring financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and strategic fiscal leadership tailored to the complexities of government contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop financial strategies, budgets, forecasts, and advise the CEO and Board on financial strategy, cost optimization, risk management and long-term planning.
  • Government Contracting Expertise: Ensure proper accounting and compliance for fixed-price, cost-plus, and time-and-materials contracts, and handle submissions like Incurred Cost Proposals.
  • Support pricing and proposal development for new government contracts, including cost volume leadership and pricing narratives.
  • Collaborate with other departments to align financial performance with contract deliverables and milestones.
  • Oversee accounting systems to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
  • Ensure compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), and other applicable federal guidelines.
  • Monitor indirect rate structures and oversee incurred cost submissions, forward pricing rate proposals, and provisional billing rates.
  • Maintain internal controls to prevent fraud, mischarging, or noncompliance with contract terms.
  • Team Leadership: Build and mentor a high-performing team, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement
  • Liaise with external stakeholders such as banks, auditors, and government agencies.
  • Partner with IT on the Implementation and maintenance ERP systems tailored for government contracting (e.g., Deltek Costpoint, Unanet).
  • Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, reporting accuracy, and audit readiness.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting

Experience:

  • 10+ years in finance/accounting with 5+ years in leadership, including government contracting experience.
  • Experience managing cost-plus contracts, including tracking and application of rate differentials.
  • Experience building PowerPoint presentations and delivering presentations to stakeholders.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in government contracting systems (preferably Unanet but other Gov Contracting systems still relevant like e.g., Deltek Costpoint).
  • Advanced Excel capabilities, strong analytical skills, and ability to communicate financial insights to diverse stakeholders.
  • FOCI experience is a plus
  • U.S. citizenship required

Job Type: Full-time

The anticipated salary range for this position is $175,000-$210,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
