Consider joining our team! The Senior School Crossing Guard plays a vital leadership role within the County’s Public Safety team. This position directly contributes to the safety and well-being of schoolchildren and community members by ensuring that trained, professional crossing guards are positioned where they are needed most. The incumbent helps maintain a safe and orderly environment at school crossings, serving as a key connection between the public, the police department, and the school community. About This Role: The Senior School Crossing Guard supervises the county’s crossing guard staff and oversees daily operations to ensure all assigned school crossings are safely covered. The incumbent will plan and monitor assignments, respond to public inquiries or complaints, and maintain department equipment and uniforms in working order. This role also ensures all staff receive appropriate training, follow established safety procedures, and operate in accordance with departmental policies.

Special Requirements: Must pass a complete background investigation, to include a polygraph examination, and pre-employment drug test. The successful candidate must be able to perform light physical work, including standing and walking for extended periods, occasionally lifting up to 20 pounds, and working in a variety of weather conditions.
Work Schedule: This position typically follows a weekday, daytime schedule, aligned with the school calendar, with occasional early morning or midday hours depending on crossing assignments or operational needs. Some limited weekend or evening work may occur during training or special events.
Starting Salary Range: $27.35 - $32.17
