Working with considerable independence and exercising discretion in establishing priorities, the Development Coordinator provides data management, research, administrative, and communications support for the Director of Yale College Reunion Giving and other members of the Reunion Giving team. Reporting to the Reunion Giving Program Manager, the Development Coordinator is responsible for a range of activities that include assisting with the development of solicitation/cultivation strategies for Reunion Gift Committee members; overseeing the preparation and production of communications including mail solicitations, emails, volunteer training materials, and event invitations; and coordinating special events to ensure their timely and successful execution. In addition, the Development Coordinator produces ad hoc reports from the database to support fundraising initiatives for the Director and Reunion Gift Officers. The Development Coordinator helps ensure the accuracy of all information related to alumni volunteers and donors as well as the accuracy of data reflected in the database. The Development Coordinator also performs data entry and other administrative tasks and may assist, as needed, with projects in other units.

Required Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated ability to initiate and complete tasks independently and proactively, strong written communication skills with the proven ability to draft, format, proofread, and edit communications. Strong oral communication skills and proficiency in communicating appropriately with multiple constituencies. Demonstrated organizational and research capabilities, strong attention to detail. Writing samples requested at time of interview, proven team player with skills to prioritize work, manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines from multiple managers in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing quality of work product. Commitment to an inclusive workplace, intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; the ability to conduct data analysis and work with financial information. Ability and willingness to develop proficiency with sophisticated database software, reporting tools, and other online tools and high level of professionalism, judgment and integrity, ability to maintain confidentiality.

Two years’ administrative experience in a University or Executive setting.

Principal Responsibilities

1. Drafts a variety of written materials, including detailed individual prospect briefings and endowed gift agreement, proposals in support of specific University initiatives and internal and external correspondence that conforms to the style and voice of the sender. 2. Coordinates research on individual donors and the history and status of gift commitments as needed by gift officers and other University officials. Ensures the accuracy of gift acknowledgments and all information communicated to donors and prospects. 3. Prepares reports on prospect pools summarizing giving, status, affiliation and other data points, as needed. 4. Assists in the coordination of special events, including dedications, donor recognition events and celebration of special initiatives to ensure timely and successful completion of the proceedings. 5. Designs and produces ad hoc reports based on data extracted from primary databases to support fund raising programs. 6. Oversees stewardship functions to ensure that donors receive ongoing communication regarding the benefits of their gifts to Yale. 7. Supports fundraising directors and gift officers in a range of additional activities related to the University’s development effort, as needed. 8. May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Six years of related work experience, four of them in the same job family at the next lower level and a high school level education; or four years of related work experience and an Associate degree; or little or no work experience and a Bachelor degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
