PRIMARY PURPOSE:
- Responsibilities include; responding to sewer backup calls and performing preventative maintenance at various district facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- High school Diploma or GED equivalent from and accredited institution
- Must have valid Texas driver's license
- Ability to take direction and learn the trade
- Good interpersonal communication skill
- Ability to diagnose and resolve sewer related problems
- Knowledge of plumbing codes and building codes preferred
- Other duties as assigned
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Must be physically able to operate variety of sewer equipment
- Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle
- Must be able to work in confined spaces including school building crawl spaces
- Maintain and repair all types of sewer equipment
- Must be able to lift at least 50lbs
- Receive and complete work orders
- Identify sources of sewer malfunctions and complete repairs
- Maintain accurate records on material and labor used
- Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean
- Work with building principals and supervisors to complete projects
- Respond to emergency calls as needed
- Other duties as assigned
EQUIPMENT USED:
- Hand and power tools; pipe bender, sewer rooter, heavy equipment and ¾ ton service truck
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions, fumes outside and inside.
- Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting and carrying
- Exposure to mechanical or electrical hazards
SAFETY:
- Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment
- Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures
- Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report problem issues to supervisor
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing etc
