Are you ready to apply your engineering, project leadership and sourcing expertise to the world of product development and manufacturing? Join us as Conceptual Cost Manager and impact the way we design, develop, and manufacture products at GN.

The team you will be part of:

Based at our global HQ, located in Ballerup, Denmark, you will join the Operations & Project Management Hearing team in Global Operations, reporting directly to Director Kenneth Pilgaard.

In this role, you will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders worldwide, ensuring value and cost are managed effectively and optimized in our products from the early concept phase through to mass production.

In this role you will:

  • Optimize products by supporting the organization with cost / value analysis in our products, modules, platforms and architecture.
  • Investigate and motivate for cost-effective design and manufacturability, e.g. via mapping of value / cost opportunities related to roadmap, product, and design options.
  • Manage cost targets and running estimate for ramp up in development projects.
  • Facilitate and support project sourcing activities including availability reviews, supplier selection, RFQs, and negotiations.
  • Support building positive business cases together with R&D & Product Marketing.
  • Facilitate and conduct project reviews related to Design for Value, Cost and Manufacturing.
  • Follow up and guard the cost in product development by working with R&D on their suggested specification, manufacturing or material selection.

You will also work on introducing new technologies and innovations during Product Development and play a key role in approving targets and results before critical milestones are passed.

You will also support key cross-functional projects that are part of strategic initiatives (“must-win battles”) with significant value or savings impact from an Operations and Sourcing perspective.

To thrive in the role, we imagine that you - besides having a technical mindset and a good business understanding - have:

  • A degree or similar in Electronics or Electromechanics Engineering,
  • Experience with platform and/or product development, supplier sourcing or cost/value optimization in an R&D environment are positive differentiators.
  • Good at solving both technical and commercial issues.
  • General understanding of manufacturing processes and industrialization.
  • Experience with LEAN, Design for Value/Cost, or supplier sourcing in Asia, are positive differentiators.
  • Presentation, negotiation, and communication skills in English, both written and spoken.

In addition, you have an engaging personality and possess facilitation skills, enabling you to build networks and engage stakeholders. You also possess solid analytical and problem-solving abilities, which you use to identify issues and propose effective solutions.
