Serve on the leadership team overseeing all aspects of day- to-day Patient Access Financial Counseling within inpatient, outpatient, procedural and ambulatory settings across the enterprise. Partner closely with colleagues to serve as Patient Access Financial Counselor expert, regularly model/mentor and train colleagues on technical skills, make decisions regarding daily priorities for the work group, provide guidance to an/or assist staff on non-routine or escalated issues. Provide guidance for Revenue Cycle team members, enterprise clinics, and decentralized registration areas by creating a positive work environment to maintain patient and employee satisfaction.

Coordinate, develop, and maintain various projects for all areas within the department and lead the charge to ensure successful outcomes. Perform routine workflow assessments and make recommendations for improvement. Ensure compliance through audit activities. Work with interdisciplinary teams to resolve issues and optimize the system to deliver a product that makes efficient use of resources. Must work in production as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three years post-secondary education with coursework in business, medical assistant program or nursing assistant program OR equivalent combination of education/experience in healthcare business or clinic operations (one year of education equals one year of experience) required.
  • Demonstrate ability to interact positively with customers and staff, demonstrate analytical, organizational, team, team building, project management and self-directing skills required.
  • Demonstrate ability to develop and maintain working relationships in department and organization to foster a team environment required.
  • Expert knowledge in computer based applications, specifically Microsoft products including Excel and Word required.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills and a demonstrated ability to prioritize work and direct staff required.
  • Ability to type 45 words per minute with 95% accuracy required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six months of hire or transfer date for employees working in hospital environment required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later).
  • Financial Counseling certification or equivalent Revenue Cycle path within six months of hire or transfer date (ex: HBI, HFMA)
