Description:

The Marine, Energy, and Engineering Analytics team currently comprises eleven actuaries and two catastrophe modellers in London, along with three additional catastrophe modellers in Mumbai. We are a truly global team serving large multinational clients, regularly collaborating with our broking and analytical colleagues across the US and Asia. There is ample opportunity to add real value to our clients and plenty of room for creativity. Our team is collaborative and innovative, having naturally grown over the years with colleagues joining from other teams within the company.

The team maintains a significant client and market-facing presence, and team members are expected to support this by presenting and pitching to prospective clients. While based in London, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to become a key part of a team with a global reach and remit. This role offers a genuine opportunity to contribute to the development and innovation of pricing reinsurance tools as the company continues to invest.

We will count on you to:

  • Manage client casework, including risk analysis, structuring, pricing, and optimisation of technically complex reinsurance programmes.
  • Contribute to model and tool developments.
  • Create innovative tools to process, visualise, and analyse data.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and confidently engage with brokers and deliver presentations to clients.
  • Confidently juggle multiple priorities for a range of stakeholders, often under challenging deadlines and circumstances.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively to internal and external audiences with varying levels of risk understanding.
  • Drive independent research into areas of interest within Marine, Energy, Terrorism, and Engineering, including developing and maintaining technical, market, and regulatory knowledge.

What you need to have:

  • Demonstrated expertise as a pricing actuary or capital modelling actuary, preferably in the London Market.
  • Part qualified, nearly qualified or fully qualified actuaries will be considered (e.g., IFoA, SOA, CAS, or equivalent).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in actuarial software and statistical/data analysis tools (e.g., Python, R, SQL, Excel).
  • Experience in Marine, Energy, Engineering and Terror lines of business is preferable but not necessary.

What makes you stand out:

  • A mature, self-driven individual with the curiosity to question and learn.
  • Client-facing experience.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and work flexibly when required.

Why join our team:

  • We help you be your best through professional development opportunities, interesting work and supportive leaders.
  • We foster a vibrant and inclusive culture where you can work with talented colleagues to create new solutions and have impact for colleagues, clients and communities.
  • Our scale enables us to provide a range of career opportunities, as well as benefits and rewards to enhance your well-being.

At Guy Carpenter, you can be your best. We work on challenges that matter with colleagues who help bring out our best.
