Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Engineer to join our legal technology team. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in the implementation, configuration, and support within a legal or professional services environment. This role will focus on optimizing document management workflows, enhancing system functionality, and ensuring seamless integration with other business-critical systems to improve operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, configuration, and administration of NetDocuments, ensuring alignment with organizational and legal department requirements.
  • Collaborate with legal, IT, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and implement solutions that improve document management processes.
  • Customize and optimize ND Workspaces, profile fields, security settings, and metadata structures to support departmental workflows.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce best practices, governance, and standards for NetDocs usage across the organization.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues related to NetDocs, integrations, and third-party applications.
  • Lead system upgrades, testing, and deployment activities, ensuring minimal disruption to users.
  • Train and mentor junior NetDocs administrators and end-users, providing guidance on system capabilities and workflows.
  • Collaborate with IT and vendors for system integrations (e.g., e-billing, contract management, CRM) and ensure data integrity across platforms.
  • Analyze system usage, generate reports, and provide insights for continuous improvement and optimization.
  • Stay up-to-date on NetDocs product developments, enhancements, and industry best practices.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4–7 years’ experience working with NetDocuments (or similar) in a legal environment, with at least 2–3 years in a senior or lead capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of legal document management processes and workflow optimization.
  • Proven experience in ND (or similar) administration, configuration, and user support.
  • Experience with integrations between a document management system and other enterprise systems (e.g., iManage, SharePoint, CRM, e-billing).
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong project management skills and experience

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with scripting or automation tools to enhance ND functionality.
  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory compliance requirements for document management.
  • Certification in NetDocuments Administration or relevant legal tech certifications.
