Job Summary
A combination of academic qualifications, technical skills, teaching abilities, and research capabilities.
Essential Job Functions
- Teaching: Teach students (both graduate and undergraduate) face-to-face in the classroom and online.
- Research: Publish in academic journals and attend academic conferences; conduct internally and externally funded research.
- Service: Display leadership and participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of college and department programs; participate in department, college, and university committees, and other activities associated with professional status and perform duties essential to the college and university mission; perform related duties essential to the university teaching profession.
Minimum and Desired Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- The successful candidate must have earned a doctorate in Construction Management, Construction Science, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field. ABD candidates must provide documented evidence of dissertation defense and completion of study before hiring. Candidates with a Ph.D conferred at the time of initial appointment will hold the rank of Assistant Professor upon initial appointment.
Required Qualifications:
- Candidates must have proven teaching capabilities, commitment to research, excellent communication skills, the ability to work effectively in teams, and the ability to develop industrial relations. Candidates also must have a strong commitment to undergraduate education and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Capability to teach the following areas: Surveying, Construction Materials, Construction Graphics/BIM, Structural Behavior, and Project Management.
Desired Qualifications:
- Evidence of successful teaching at the levels of undergraduate and graduate in both traditional and online class environments.
- Demonstrated potential or ability to develop an active research program and secure external funding.
- Three or more years of professional experience in the construction industry.
