Overview
We’re seeking a Tactical Buyer to join our team of industry-leading experts at our Cartago facility. This role leads a team of tactical buyers responsible for procuring direct raw materials and MRO supplies, ensuring a smooth and efficient supply chain.
The ideal candidate will bring expertise in supply chain management, supplier collaboration, and process optimization within a manufacturing environment. Key responsibilities include evaluating buyer performance, resolving supply issues, and optimizing procurement processes in SAP.
Responsibilities
- Execute purchase requisitions promptly to ensure timely material receipt in coordination with the Tactical Purchasing team.
- Manage end-to-end purchasing activities for direct raw materials and MRO supplies, from MRP to vendor payment.
- Resolve short-, mid-, and long-term material shortages to maintain production continuity.
- Publish weekly shortage reports and collaborate with Purchasing and Logistics to address issues.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships; conduct evaluations and develop improvement plans.
- Lead cost-saving initiatives while ensuring quality and reliability.
- Align procurement strategies with production, engineering, and finance teams.
- Maintain accurate material arrival dates in SAP.
- Optimize procurement parameters in SAP to improve availability and inventory levels.
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities.
- Monitor procurement KPIs and develop plans to meet targets (e.g., on-time delivery, inventory turnover, supplier performance).
- Communicate potential issues and improvements to the Materials Manager and Plant Manager.
- Supervise and develop a team of four tactical buyers, providing coaching and performance feedback.
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies and safety standards.
- Uphold and promote Lutron’s culture and values.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role
- At least 3 years of experience using ERP systems (SAP preferred)
- Minimum 3 years of experience leading teams
- Fluent in English and Spanish (written and verbal)
- Experience with free trade zone regulations is a plus
- Certifications in logistics or supply chain (e.g., APICS, Lean, Six Sigma) are a plus
