Salary: $110,200 - 165,300, plus 10% annual bonus

Locations: Remote in following states: Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia

NiSource is seeking a Principal Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) Partner to support the organization in the integration and sustainment of its HOP operating philosophy. Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) is a foundational element in establishing defense in depth and building capacity to fail safely. This role is pivotal in reducing NiSource wide risk and hazard exposure while also ensuring a healthy safety culture is sustained and operational learning processes work to drive continuous improvement.

The Principal HOP Partner's work will largely consist of in-field observations, individual, team, and leadership coaching and reinforcement, HOP curriculum development, and virtual and in person formal training instruction for all NiSource business units. The Principal Partner will also serve as a subject matter expert for vertical HOP integration efforts and will partner with bargaining unit, management, and contract personnel to integrate and reinforce HOP principles, concepts, tools and techniques.

Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead and provide subject matter expertise in the development of HOP curriculum
  • Lead formal and informal, virtual and in person, HOP training and reinforcement activities within all NiSource business units
  • Provide real-time coaching and reinforcement to management and front-line workers on the proper application of HOP Principles, Error Reduction Tools, and desired safe behaviors
  • Lead the integration of HOP principles, concepts, tools and techniques into technical training programs, leadership development programs, employee onboarding, general employee training, and operations daily huddles and leadership briefings
  • Engage Management and Front-Line Employees in vertical HOP integration efforts to ensure adequate systems are in place for high-risk work activities
  • Facilitate structured Learning Teams to explore everyday operations (work as done) or in response to an event to identify system vulnerabilities and improvement opportunities
  • Conduct HOP field observations and on-site coaching within assigned business units. When system deficiencies are identified, communicate to leadership, and leverage the Corrective Action Program
  • Partner with key stakeholders such as Asset and Risk Management, Organizational Change Management, Process Safety, and Technical Training in the design and execution of cultural change programs to drive adoption of human and organizational performance improvements

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of experience working in human and organizational performance
  • 5+ years of experience in curriculum development and training
  • 5+ years of experience coaching leadership and front-line field employees
  • 3+ years of experience leading causal evaluations and operational learning teams
  • Must be ok with 50% travel requirement: mix of local and out of state travel. This role will support six states. One-to-three weeks per month depending on operational needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Utility industry
  • Experience in Gas, Electric and Generation
  • Strong leadership, communications, and interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate with all levels of employees, customers and outside professionals

Salary Range*:

$110,200.00 - $165,300.00
