The purpose of this position is to clean and disinfect the interior and exterior of hatchers, eliminating all chick debris and bacteria.

ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Cleans hatchers by scraping, scrubbing, and shoveling out chick down, spraying with a pressure hose, applying acid at times, and disinfecting. Cleans hatcher hallway daily. Climbs on top of hatchers to ensure they are clean of all chick debris.

Keeps all equipment in a clean and usable condition. Maintains production requirements by cleaning out 35-40 hatchers per shift. Unloads buggies from hatchers to clean hatchers and re-loads clean buggies when completed. Participates as a member of the Team. Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.

Simmons Operating systems principles and objectives: Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.

Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives: This position description is intended to guide the activities of the Hatcher Washer and is not intended to limit the thinking and creativity of the person to the work of this function nor is it intended that this describe all the work that may be required of the person in this position.

Physical Activities: Must be able to work in temperature extremes, on feet for entire shift. Must be able to push/pull 1000 pound wheeled buggies, full and empty of poultry, up to 50 feet. Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds of equipment or product anywhere from the floor to above shoulder height at various times throughout the shift. Must be able to climb 10 steps on a ladder and work at an elevated level of 10 feet at various times throughout the shift.

Travel: NA

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Will use appropriate footwear, hearing protection and other protective equipment as needed or required.

Technical Experience: Must be able to demonstrate understanding of Hazardous Communications and the proper methods of use of chemicals.

Industry Experience: Preference for poultry or food processing organization.

Minimum Education: Must have a good command of the English language, both written and spoken.

Preferred Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Competencies: Communication skills & decision quality- Must have the ability to make good decisions and communicate effectively with others and leadership team.
