About the role

Balfour Beatty are recruiting for a Senior Planner to join the planning team on site to deliver a complex secure building and infrastructure project in Derby from RIBA stage 2 through to construction and handover.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Balfour Beatty’s team that has been selected as a construction partner for the Rolls Royce expansion work in Raynesway, Derby, needed to meet the growth in demand from the MOD and as a result of the AUKUS agreement. As part of this programme of works, which will be executed in stages over the next eight years, Balfour Beatty will deliver infrastructure enabling works, build new manufacturing and office facilities, and redevelop existing industrial buildings on the site.

What you'll be doing

As a Senior Planner you will be:

  • Reporting to the Fissile Planning Lead for the project.
  • Working collaboratively with Project Team to develop robust NEC compliant schedules at all lifecycle stages of the Project.
  • Manage all aspects of the schedule for one of the Project Tranches.
  • Integration of the Fissile schedule with the wider project master schedule.
  • Working collaboratively with the Client, Design Partners, and Supply Chain Partners, and managing relationships.
  • Understanding of risk and ability to implement within the schedule and articulate critically with respect to time.
  • Support the overall planning and project controls strategy for the project.
  • Support the strategic initiative for digital collaboration on the project.
  • Provide leadership and support for members of the planning team in varying stages of their career and development from graduates to planners.

Who we're looking for

  • Experienced Senior Planner
  • Experience of building in the Nuclear Sector preferred but not essential.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of complex MEP systems and commissioning.
  • Competent in delivering the planning function within and NEC environment and managing schedule submissions.
  • Ability to provide critical analysis of schedules and project controls.
  • Expertise in the use of planning techniques and the planning toolset and methods used in project planning including resource management.
  • Critical path analysis, float, and time risk, and QSRA.
  • Fully conversant with Primavera P6 planning software.
  • An OND/HND/Degree in a relevant subject is desired.
