Opportunities for New Graduate Nurses - New to Preop/PACU Training Program - Medical Center -Anticipated start February 2026.
This opportunity is for new graduate nurses who have graduated from nursing school within the past 12 months, having less than 6 months of experience, or anticipate graduating from nursing school in December 2023.It is expected that applicants will have a nursing (RN) license that allows them to practice in the state of North Carolina prior to the first day of employment.
The New to Preop/PACU (NPP) is partnered with the New Graduate Residency Program (NRP) which is a yearlong program supporting transition from academia to practice for new graduate nurses.
The NPP program is a 12-week curriculum utilizing ASPAN’s Mosby Modules, didactic classroom instruction, simulation lab practice, and hands on clinical preceptorship. In addition to the daily schedule, expectations will include completion of all modules, homework, evaluations, and achieving a passing score on the final exam. This will pair with the requirements for the NRP. Each nurse will spend time on the main campus or other UNC sites for class and simulations and will participate in clinical at their hired unit.
Orientation schedules are subject to adjustment based departmental needs.

UNCH Main OR/NC Surgical Hospital: The NC Surgical Hospital is a level one trauma academic facility located in Chapel Hill. Main Campus currently has 26 operating rooms and 26 PACU bays. It is a very fast-paced environment offering multiple service lines. We are proud to be on the cutting edge of technology for a number of surgical procedures. Our specialty procedures include cochlear implants, organ transplants, bariatric procedures, open-heart surgeries, ECMO, endovascular surgeries, flap reconstructive surgeries, stereotactic and image guided neuro surgeries, da Vinci® robotic surgeries, and Hyperthermia Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) just to name a few. UNCH is also a regional burn center.
Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC):The UNC Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) is a free-standing surgical facility, with 8 ORs. Our department includes 9 Preop roomettes, 12 PACU bays, and 10 Short Stay Unit (SSU) Rooms. Our surgery center supports the following services: Orthopedics (Sports), ENT/OHN, plastics, general laparoscopic, general oncology, pediatric urology, urology and dental.

Summary
Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.
