Job Description:

As a Buyer with BW Converting Solutions, you will be embedded within our manufacturing team, performing buying duties for assigned commodities and supporting daily production operations. You'll negotiate supplier contracts, manage purchase orders, and work closely with the shop floor to align purchasing decisions with production needs and capacity. This role combines strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management with hands-on collaboration, requiring you to lead cost reduction initiatives and participate in cross-functional teams to optimize operations and resolve supplier issues.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Purchase materials, parts, and services exclusively for the manufacturing team and shop operations
  • Evaluate quotations, qualify new suppliers, and negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and quality standards to meet production needs
  • Issue and manage Purchase Orders, Blanket Agreements, and other purchase contracts for materials and services
  • Act as backup scheduler by analyzing MRP requirements and balancing production orders against shop capacity
  • Negotiate supplier contracts that align with company goals while driving cost control and cost reduction
  • Build and maintain a strong supplier base, fostering long-term partnerships that benefit both parties
  • Lead cost reduction initiatives in collaboration with engineering and other cross-functional teams
  • Attend daily team meetings to ensure smooth parts flow, address operational challenges, and resolve supplier issues
  • Release and reschedule purchase orders to keep materials aligned with the Master Production Schedule and customer orders
  • Support departmental planning, supplier performance evaluations, value analysis studies, and other procurement activities as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, engineering or related field. Or equivalent work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Buying experience a plus
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment required
  • Purchasing certification a plus (CPSM)
