Job Description:
Location: Middletown, Connecticut
Mount Kemble Search group/CoWorx Staffing Services is hiring for a 1st shift Machinist Toolmaker position for a top client in the Middletown CT area! This is a direct hire role, 6:30 – 3pm, Monday – Friday.
The Machinist Toolmaker position will be responsible for setting up and operating equipment to produce precision metal parts, instruments, and tools. This position involves using machines like lathes, grinders, and milling machines to cut and shape metal parts. You must be able to read technical drawings and blueprints to create exact parts to within a few thousandths of an inch. You’ll also need to be able to use computer-aided design (CAD) software to create 3D models of tools and parts. This position will not run CNC Machines.
Responsibilities:
Perform duties to layout, build and repair a variety of jigs, fixtures, production parts
Areas of specialization – tool and fixture fabrication, production rework.
There may be some programming used for repetitive rework operations
Design and create precision tools, dies, molds, and fixtures.
Analyze blueprints, specifications and material requirements to determine optimal design and production methods.
Program and operate computer-aided design (CAD) and manufacturing (CAM) software.
Use precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers and gauge blocks, to measure and inspect finished tools.
Collaborate with engineers, machinists and production personnel to ensure quality and functionality of tools.
Implement changes to improve tool performance and efficiency.
Troubleshoot issues with tools and recommend repairs or modifications.
Maintain accurate records of tool design, production and performance.
Desired Background/Skills:
High School diploma or GED required
Min 7 years’ experience in machining of metals and plastics
Toolmaker and machinist experience
Experience with hand tools to include calipers, micrometers, verniers, comparators and other precision measuring instruments
Proficient in blueprint reading
