The role

As a Shipbuilding Quality Inspector, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll support the Quality Manager to achieve project objectives and drive continuous improvement across the T31 project. Day-to-day you’ll be required to:

• Conduct product verification audits and quality investigations on board ship
• Carry out Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant, or Ultrasonic Inspection of welds and components (where qualified)
• Update and communicate inspection metrics in line with daily activities
• Complete inspection reports in a timely manner
• Develop strong working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and is based on site at Rosyth.

Essential experience of the Shipbuilding Quality Inspector

• Excellent knowledge of Quality Control requirements for naval warship construction and acceptance
• Ability to assess work carried out by production teams and subcontractors to assure quality and technical standards
• In-depth understanding of Quality Control fundamentals
• Broad knowledge of warship construction and design, with sound judgement to ensure compliance with specifications
• Knowledge and understanding of Measurement Management Systems and ISO10012

Qualifications for the Shipbuilding Quality Inspector

• Qualified to a recognised trade standard (Fabrication/Welding/Shipwright/Marine Engineering) and relevant academic level (HNC/SVQ Level 3)
• CSWIP 3.1 or equivalent (AWS CWI/SCWI, CWB CWI Level 2/SCWI Level 3)
• Minimum PCN Level 2 in either MT or PT (desirable)
• IPAF preferable
• Additional NDT or coatings inspection certifications are advantageous

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
