Purpose of Position:

This position oversees both Sales and Product Management for the Citrus program reporting directly to the Sr. Director of Sales and Product Management & VP Sales and Product Management, Deciduous & Citrus of NA. The individual will also collaborate with other departments to promote company’s Deciduous line and ensure continued satisfaction and success.

This role is responsible for coordinating the distribution of products to assigned regions. This position focuses on the improvement of current processes to help the category grow and diversify while staying committed to our core promise of quality, customer service, innovation and integrity.

This role will also work closely with the Regional Sales teams, Production and Logistics Departments, to manage product distribution.

Accountabilities:

  • Develop and manage strategic plans, budget, volume and revenue objectives, ensuring targets are met while controlling sales initiatives, in order to achieve budgeted goals.
  • Manage sales strategy by forecasting future demands, volume and revenue projections to ensure compliance with the objectives.
  • Expand sales opportunities within the region by developing and maintaining relationships with existing new customers, to comply with and increase sales goals.
  • Develop and implement effective sales presentations, programs, materials and tools to use with new and existing customers.
  • Manage and/or assist with specific customer programs such as national accounts.
  • Supply daily inventory of products to the sales team.
  • Meet customer acquisition and revenue grown targets.
  • Build and promote strong long-lasting customer relationships by partnering with them and understanding their needs.
  • Expand, Manage, and Compile the supply of the Imported and Domestic Citrus Programs presenting the available supply to sales.
  • Facilitate and lead weekly meetings to ensure volumes are being shipped per program.
  • Monitor external market conditions and gather market intelligence to determine Fresh Del Monte’s growth opportunities.
  • Build negotiation plans and understand varied negotiation levers to optimize value and outcomes across multiple business of Citrus category.
  • Oversee resolution of product issues as related to Production and Quality Assurance.
  • Collaborate with the Operations to monitor vessel arrivals, including contingency plans as needed, to avoid oversold product.
  • Secure fruit and arrange transportation for the needs of the 3 “GBU” (Geographical Business Units) across the US & Canada
  • Directs & assist the sales team with selling specific accounts and customers.
  • Provide support to all sales channels including internal and external customers.
  • Lead & assist the sales and finance team to arrange P&L’s as needed.
  • Provide regular updates to Vice President and Sr. Director Sales & Product Management as related to department matters, special projects and associated reports.
  • Provide market updates to the team.
  • Collaborate with all departments to successfully integrate and sustain new business.
  • Provide guidance to sales staff members on strategy and conflict resolution.
  • Create a positive work environment to facilitate team approach and constant interaction with our Frontlines Sales staff.
  • Evaluate accounts for performance and identify tier status for each account.
  • Set pricing guidelines, discount and promotional programs.

Standard of Operations (SOP) Management in all categories under his responsibilities.

Inventories – Oversee that all inventories are managed and uploaded accordingly

Materials & BOM – Supervise the material inventories

Vendor Rebate programs – Supervise the compiling of contracts as needed and arrange rebate invoices monthly

PO Invoice Process – AP Match – Ensure all invoices are processed by the team 48 hours after receipt.

  • Assist in special projects as needed

Minimum Skills Required:

    • 4-year Degree (Business or related field), from an accredited institution, and/or equivalent work experience.
    • At least 5 years fresh produce sales experience (i.e. large retailers, wholesalers, food service and small independent and cash customers).
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Excel, Word and Outlook, etc.).
    • Knowledge of logistics is involved within the produce industry.
    • Solid understanding of the P&L components and strong experience in the areas of strategic planning and business development, market research and pricing strategies.
    • Excellent communication (i.e. oral and written), interpersonal, and leadership skills.
    • Self-starter, motivated, detail oriented, and willing to work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Demonstrated ability in effective negotiating.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook, etc.).
    • Ability to work within a team environment; problem solve, complete tasks independently, and learn new skills and tasks as needed.
    • Flexibility to travel as needed.

Preferred:

    • Bi-lingual: English and Spanish
    • Experience with Produce Pro & Power BI
    • Substantial knowledge of the produce industry with strong contacts and relationships with retailers, growers, and other supply chain partners.
    • Knowledgeable in current practices, trends, technology and information affecting his/her customer.
    • Ability to analyze data to identify gaps and opportunities and translate it into actionable recommendations.
