Your Role:

Based in Melbourne, you will establish and lead Tractebel’s operations in Australia. Initially, a lean set up, the role requires a strong understanding of the engineering consulting industry, especially in Energy, Hydropower, and Dams, and experience in building a business from the ground up. You must also have a track record in building and leading teams, business development, and a solid understanding of the Australian market.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Market Entry Strategy & Business Development
    • Lead Tractebel’s market entry and growth in Australia.
    • Identify opportunities and build a strong client base and partnerships for long-term growth.
  • Operations & Team Leadership
    • Recruit and lead a multi-functional team covering technical, business development, and operational roles.
    • Drive operational efficiency and profitability, ensuring alignment with the company’s global standards.
  • Financial, Compliance & Risk Oversight
    • Establish a strong market presence and lay the foundation for sustainable future growth.
    • Ensure full compliance with Australian legal, regulatory, and industry standards while managing business risks effectively.
  • Strategic & Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Work with global leadership to align local strategy with broader corporate objectives.
    • Represent Tractebel with clients, partners, government, and regulatory bodies.

Your Qualifications and Experience

  • A technical university degree.
  • Over 15 years of experience in engineering consulting, with proven expertise in P&L management and business development. Prior experience in the Australian engineering consulting sector is a must.
  • Proven success in launching and scaling operations.
  • In-depth understanding of the Australian energy market.
  • A customer-centric mindset with a focus on building strategic relationships and securing key contracts.
  • Strong network and stakeholder engagement skills, including C-suite level interaction.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to thrive in a startup-like environment.
