The Ann and H.J. Smead Aerospace Engineering Sciences (AES) Department is seeking a Temporary Researcher. This position involves conducting advanced numerical simulations of fiber-reinforced composites, focusing on modeling high void volume fractions and large deformation behavior. The role requires developing algorithms, implementing finite element models, and communicating findings through reports and presentations.

A collaborative group within the Aerospace Mechanics Research Center (AMReC) at University of Colorado Boulder carrying out sponsored research on a variety of composite analysis and data analytics projects.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Conduct Literature review on degradation of polymer and polymer matrix composites
  • Develop and implement random generator algorithms for composite microstructures with varying void fractions.
  • Perform finite element simulations of fiber-reinforced composites under large deformations.
  • Analyze and interpret simulation results to assess material behavior.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate research outcomes.
