Role Purpose/Business Unit:
The Group Executive Head of Data & Analytics will lead the strategic direction and execution of Vodacom's data and analytics initiatives. This role is pivotal in driving data-driven decision-making across the organization, ensuring data accessibility, quality, and governance, and leveraging advanced analytics to uncover deeper insights and predictive trends. The successful candidate will collaborate across the Group’s entities and verticals, including finance, commercial, IT, and customer service, to enhance Vodacom's digital presence and improve customer engagement.
Your responsibilities will include:
Data enablement:
- Ensure data accessibility, quality, and governance across the organization.
- Develop and enforce data policies, maintain data standards, and define data roles and responsibilities.
- Oversee the centralized management of data assets and ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements.
Performance reporting:
- Provide actionable insights through regular reporting and automation.
- Centralize KPI development and performance reporting to reduce duplication and errors.
- Implement digital MPR frameworks and transform manual reporting processes.
Advanced analytics:
- Leverage advanced techniques to uncover deeper insights and predictive trends.
- Utilize predictive analytics in finance, create task teams for insights generation, and integrate AI through collaboration with COEs.
- Develop and implement a well-governed Insights Framework to support data-driven decision-making
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
- Educational background: A bachelor's or master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
- Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in data and analytics, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Technical skills: Proficiency in data governance, data quality management, and advanced analytics techniques. Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), data management platforms, and programming languages (e.g., Python, R).
- Industry knowledge: In-depth understanding of the telecommunications industry and its data-related challenges and opportunities.
- Project management: Proven experience in managing large-scale data projects and initiatives, with a strong track record of delivering results on time and within budget.

- Leadership: Proven experience in leading cross-functional teams and driving collaboration across departments.

- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
