POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sr Benefits and Wellness Specialist plays a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and managing comprehensive employee benefits and wellness programs. This position collaborates across HR, leadership, and external partners to ensure competitive, compliant, and wellbeing-focused offerings. The goal is to optimize employee health, engagement, retention, and overall organizational performance.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Assist with overseeing design, evaluation and administration of benefit offerings - including health, dental, vision, retirement, disability, HSA, and wellness initiatives
  • Lead the creation of Open Enrollment materials, partnering with internal communications partners to ensure seamless communications
  • Oversee and Assist with leave and absence programs and coordinate return to work and accommodations
  • Monitor ongoing benefits performance, track utilization and cost metrics, and recommend strategic improvements based on data insights
  • Develop, manage and continuously evolve wellness programs - such as health fairs, fitness classes, workshops and lifestyle challenges
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align wellness offerings with benefits and employee wellness objectives
  • Ensure adherence to state and federal regulations (ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA) and main program documentation and privacy standards
  • Generate regular reports on benefits and wellness metrics, such as program participation, enrollment trends, cost-benefit analysis, and ROI
  • Audit internal systems, vendor platforms, and file feeds to validate accuracy in enrollments, deductions and benefits delivery.
  • Serve as a trusted resource and liaison for employees and leadership, responding to questions and providing guidance on benefits, wellness offerings, and leave options.
  • Design and deliver engaging benefits and wellness education - for example, during new hire orientation, wellness campaigns, etc.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Apple iWork Suite and Microsoft products, including Keynote & PowerPoint; experience with HRIS and benefits databases
  • Project and team management/leadership skills
  • Proven ability to work efficiently in a team environment
  • Effective planning and priority setting. Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of plan designs
  • Ability to understand, evaluate, and make judgment on proposals (RFPs)
  • Knowledge of benefits contract language
  • Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing, and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs, included the ACA. ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 124, Worker’s Compensation, Medicare, OBRA, Social Security, and DoL requirements
  • Excellent communication and organization skills

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field of study
  • 2-4 years of related benefits and employee benefits administration required

REQUIRED LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • SHRM-CP professional designation preferred

  • Salary: $65,000 - $75,000

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The Sr Benefits and Wellness Specialist works in an office environment 5 days per week. This is not a remote position.
  • Some travel required
