Job Objective:

Responsible for ensuring the support of end users for all clinical software applications in use at Eisenhower Health.

Job Description:

Education:

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Health, Science, Business or an additional four (4) years of related work experience

Preferred: Master’s degree in Information Technology, Health, Science, Business

Licensure/Certification:

Preferred: Current clinical licensure or certification (RN, OT, PT, SLP, RPH, RT, ARRT, etc.); relevant Information Technology certification(s) in Epic Clinical Applications and/or Project Management Certification(s)

Experience:

Required: Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in information technology or nine (9) years of progressively responsible experience in information technology without a bachelor’s degree; three (3) years of leadership experience

Preferred: Director or manager experience in IT management or healthcare operational delivery

Reports To: Chief Information Officer

Supervises: Applications Analyst-Clinical, Senior Applications Analyst-Clinical and other positions as assigned

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, Ability to direct and manage multiple projects, Ability to identify and communicate user’s needs, Ability to interact and negotiate with vendors, Ability to interact with users, administration, physicians and staff, Knowledge of best practices for healthcare information technology and system analysis, Knowledge of contract review and negotiations techniques, Knowledge of project management processes and standards, Knowledge of software applications (Epic preferred) for healthcare, Knowledge of software support processes and tools, Skill in leading, guiding and evaluating performance and providing training to improve performance

Essential Responsibilities

1. Collaborates with the CIO to develop departmental goals and objectives; establishes, implements and maintains policies and procedures for department orientation.

2. Collaborates with the CIO to assess, plan and implement process improvement strategies; maintains appropriate quality control.

3. Manages special projects by identifying and clarifying issues and priorities; communicating and coordinating requirements; evaluating milestone accomplishments and evaluating optional courses of action.

4. Responsible for providing effectiveness in leadership through broad collaborative skills, deliberate decision-making and effective delegation and follow up; creates a supportive environment that promotes innovative employees and high morale.

5. Develops a qualified, engaged, certified staff and leadership team to support the systems in production throughout the health system.

6. Assigns responsibilities, projects and tasks to staff reporting to this position, balances skills and workload of the group to ensure the best support and customer satisfaction.

7. Supervises staff and manages employee performance; provides on-going feedback, addresses problems, orients and trains employees, verifies competency and identified and suggests ways to develop skills.

8. Maintains external relationships with vendors to ensure appropriate support, issue escalation, and to achieve the maximum savings for Eisenhower Health.

9. Reviews end-user surveys and ensures proper expedient follow up with all negative surveys received.

10. Champions and promotes effective system selection options, system support and process redesign with Eisenhower leadership; recommends the use of IT to improve quality and the patient experience.

11. Responsible for budget for cost center including budget preparations, budget management and budget variances.

12. Achieves management goals and responsibilities set forth by the Executive Leadership Team.

13. Remains abreast of current legislation, future legislation and changes that may affect hospital and ambulatory processes, reimbursement, compliance, billing, etc.

14. Works closely with Information Systems management team to ensure unison across technology hardware, software and platforms.

15. Backs up other Information Systems Directors and/or CIO in their absence.

16. Performs other duties as assigned.
