New hires typically receive between minimum and midpoint, however, we may go slightly higher based on experience, internal equity and market.

Job Summary

This position supports the Material Control operations within the Operations and Maintenance Division of the Utilities Department and the Traffic Management Division of the Transportation Department. The employee will perform entry-level to intermediate tasks, with job responsibilities expanding as skills and knowledge increase. Tasks may be performed independently following clear instructions and standard operating procedures. Work is primarily conducted at the Bellevue Service Center and the Eastgate materials yard and may include both indoor and outdoor assignments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Eastgate Yard Support:
    • Monitor and maintain inventory levels of bulk materials (e.g., crushed rock, decomposed granite, base rock).
    • Track usage and coordinate timely restocking to ensure uninterrupted operations.
    • Arrange for haul-outs and proper disposal of construction debris, green waste, and other yard materials.
    • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for material deliveries and debris pickups.
    • Operate a loader, forklift, and other material handling equipment to load, unload, and move inventory.
  • Stockroom & Inventory Control:
    • Assist with stockroom organization, labeling, and general upkeep.
    • Perform routine physical inventory counts and assist with reconciliation.
    • Operate a city vehicle to pick up and deliver parts, tools, and equipment as needed.
    • Assist with receiving, sorting, and shelving deliveries.
  • Clerical and Reporting Tasks:
    • Perform minor clerical duties such as maintaining inventory logs, delivery receipts, and equipment check-out sheets.
    • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding material needs and discrepancies.
  • General Labor and Site Maintenance:
    • Conduct routine cleanup of stockrooms, satellite yard, and surrounding work areas.
    • Follow all safety protocols, wear required PPE and maintain clean and safe work environments.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Forklift and loader operation experience (certification preferred or ability to obtain).
  • Basic computer or inventory system skills preferred.
  • Ability to perform physical work, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, and standing for long periods.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.

Supplemental Information

Work Environment:

  • Frequently exposed to outdoor weather, dust, noise, and heavy equipment.
  • Position requires the use of safety equipment such as hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, and reflective vests.

Definition of a Variable Employee:

  • Average weekly hours cannot be determined at date of hire
  • Hours may vary from week to week and are anticipated to be28 hours per week or less
  • NOTE: Will be considered full-time and eligible for medical coverage if hours average 30 hours per week or more over a 12-month measurement period (or 130 hours per month)
