Primary Purpose:
To maintain all playgrounds, playground equipment, backstops, fences, and tennis courts in a safe, operable, and attractive condition
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Driving record that meets the requirements of the district's insurance carrier
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of playground equipment maintenance
- Knowledge in all areas of concrete work
Experience:
- Threes (3) or more years’ experience in all areas of welding
- Experience in fence and backstop repair and installation
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Maintenance and Repair
- Maintain all playground equipment, backstops, fences, and tennis courts.
- Install new playground equipment, backstops, and fences.
- Inspect playgrounds and playground equipment as assigned by the department head.
- Report and needed repairs to the department head.
- Lay out, cut, and weld special projects as assigned by the department head.
- Design, install, and maintain concrete retaining walls for playground areas and estimate the amount of concrete needed.
Safety
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing. Operate equipment and use tools according to established safety procedures.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
- Maintain tools and equipment and perform preventive maintenance as required.

Tools/Equipment Used: Hand tools, meters, power tools, heavy equipment, welders ( Mig-Arc- Tig)
Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving
Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis
Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent district-wide travel
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; Ability to read; Ability to communicate effectively; Ability to understand oral and written instructions
