Position Summary
The Indiana University Jacobs School of Music Brass Department seeks candidates for a tenured or tenure-track faculty position in tuba/euphonium. The successful candidate will have an extensive and successful background as a performer and teacher, will be able to work effectively with faculty colleagues, and will be able to recruit and inspire undergraduate and graduate students in a professionally-oriented educational environment. The Indiana University Jacobs School of Music combines artistry, pedagogy, and research to prepare its students to fully realize the potential of the expressive arts to change lives and to enrich society.
Responsibilities include studio teaching of tuba and euphonium majors at all levels and in all degree and diploma programs along with coaching of chamber music. Service on Jacobs School of Music committees and participation in department meetings, recital hearings, competitions, juries, auditions, recruitment activities and doctoral advisory committees is expected. Other duties may be assigned from within the Brass Department.
Basic Qualifications
Artist/teacher with a growing (for junior applications) or established (for senior applications) national/international reputation as a performer and demonstrated evidence of successful teaching and recruitment. Master’s degree in music or related field is required and doctorate is preferred. Commensurate professional experience will also be considered.
