Position Overview

KIRO Radio is currently seeking a fill in Producer for our highly-rated daily news talk shows that inform, engage, and entertain a diverse audience on broadcast, digital, and social platforms. You’ll pitch and shape smart segments, book timely guests, and package content for on-air and online—moving fast, staying accurate, and strengthening our brand voice.

Note: Work configurations are subject to change based on business needs and at company discretion.

  • This position is an onsite role that requires the employee to work at our Seattle site.

What You Will Do:

Primary job duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Source, vet, and prioritize daily stories; develop fresh angles and segment plans aligned with KIRO’s brand.
  • Partner with hosts to frame ideas, prepare rundowns, and write concise, on-air copy and digital teases.
  • Book guests, coordinate pre-interviews, logistics, and live elements under tight deadlines.
  • Record, edit, and mix audio; turn around live moments into clips for web, app, podcasts, and social quickly
  • Monitor analytics and audience feedback to inform follow-ups and improve segment performance
  • Cultivate and maintain a wide range of news resources and contacts
  • Update and engage audience on social media platforms

Skills and Experience We Are Looking For:

  • Strong newsroom or audio production experience (radio, podcasting, or live news preferred)
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple deadlines and stay calm, accurate, organized, and focused.
  • Sharp editorial judgement and booking skills; comfortable developing ideas into compelling segments.
  • Proficiency with audio editing in Adobe Audition (or similar DAWS), preferred.
  • Fluency with major social platforms and best practices for engagement
  • Familiar with FCC rules, defamation / libel / slander, fair use, and attribution and familiar with FCC Rule s and Regulations
  • Prior experience working in media, preferred
  • Experience using NewsBoss and Adobe Audition, preferred
  • Able to set up ISDN, Comrex, Skype, etc. and help direct technical aspects of the show, preferred
  • Digital video production skills, preferred

Physical Demands

  • Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively.
  • Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to operate computer keys and general office equipment. Ability to work on a computer for prolonged periods of time.
  • Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.

Compensation Range

$20 - $28 per hour.

Hourly rate will be determined by an evaluation of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant along with internal and external benchmarks.
