DEVELOPMENT OPERATIONS ASSISTANT, Media Lab, will support the administrative functions for the Development team and assist with development and external relations research, database management, and provide events and donor support. Will support administrative operations (40%) including respond to inquiries requiring a general understanding of work-area policies and procedures and ensures resolution and schedule appointments and meetings for Director of Development; development and external relations operations, research, and database management (50%) including recommend best ways to organize, track, plan, and execute general and individual stewardship projects from inception to completion and handle the calendar and logistics and coordinates with the Director of Development and the Manager of Philanthropic and Corporate Relations in the execution of these projects; events and donor support (10%) including assist with the coordination of major events when needed, such as booking rooms, ordering refreshments, setup, breakdown and coordinate AV needs, coordinate visits and supports events for both prospective and existing sponsors/prospects including preparing customized agendas, coordinating registration, reserving rooms, helping arrange research demonstrations, escorting members, and arranging catering, interacting directly with representatives of current and prospective clients via email, telephone, and in person, greets company representatives and other guests and groups and introduces and provides tours, and assist in securing student/faculty speakers and demos for events and for tours.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: High school diploma or equivalent; a minimum of three years of administrative, office, or related experience; ability to deal with confidential information and/or issues using discretion and diplomacy; excellent and demonstrated verbal and written communication skills; ability to comfortably and confidently interface with the public; strong attention to detail; resourcefulness, be a self-starter, and flexible; ability to be self-managed and independently organize, prioritize, and work on multiple tasks concurrently, and carry out detailed procedures in a busy open office setting; ability to manage changing and high-volume workload; and be a team player who recognizes that no job is too small. PREFERRED: Bachelor’s degree; development experience in university or complex non-profit setting; and experience with MIT business apps: Microsoft Office, SAPgui, Concur, Google Workspace, Dropbox, etc.

This is a hybrid position, with 3 days a week, or as needed, required onsite in Cambridge, MA.
