Coterra is hiring a Control Room Operator in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Job Summary

As a Control Room Operator for Coterra, you are responsible for monitoring and supporting field operations in a 24/7 control room. The operator will need to respond to events in a timely manner and manage events until resolution. This position will support Coterra’s goals for safe operations, emissions’ reductions, improved runtime, and lowered operating cost. The position will dispatch field personnel to locations and create work orders for tracking of event specific activities. The Control Room Operator will help diagnose issues through the interpretation of SCADA data and communicate to appropriate staff members. This position requires an individual to solve a range of mid-level to difficult operational challenges which requires a detail-oriented skill set with exceptional problem-solving skills. This position is currently for Night Shift, including weekends and holidays, but may require rotations to Day Shift. This position is located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Job requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor live data from production facilities, pipelines, and compressor stations
  • Recognize and respond to situational data and abnormal or emergency conditions
  • Ensure safe, reliable, efficient oversight of production and pipeline facilities in the field in accordance with company policies, operational plans, and regulatory requirements.
  • Interact with field operating personnel to achieve operating goals and assure employee and public safety.
  • Interact with other pipeline companies, regional management, and marketing staff to communicate real-time operating conditions and achieve targeted gas volume deliveries.
  • Communicate with Emergency Response Agencies as required to support field operations.
  • Prepare reports for distribution to regional management.
  • Answer and respond to incoming calls to the MBU Control Room.
  • Participate in field visits / training to gain system knowledge.
  • Collaborate with SCADA, IT, and automation technicians to resolve data issues and
  • Collaborate with field staff to troubleshoot and resolve issues
  • Learn new procedures; refresh procedures as needed; perform training as necessary
  • Develop and improve on existing techniques and processes

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Thorough understanding of upstream process flow, piping, and pressures
  • Ability to work a 7 day on / 7 day off rotational schedule consisting of 12-hour shifts to include weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to multitask and maintain detailed logging/reports
  • Experience with SCADA software, trending and data analysis; knowledge of Ignition SCADA a plus
  • Lease operator, flowback, compression, control room, or midstream experience a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Power Point)
  • Must be detail oriented with strong problem solving skills
  • Must be a team player that possesses the ability to adapt to a changing and fast paced work environment
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED Required

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

  • 1-3 Any experience in a related role within the oil and gas industry

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMAND

Work is typically performed indoors in an office environment. Incumbents must be able to perform work which includes typing, sitting and standing. In the event that incumbent visits operations worksite, personal protection equipment, including head protection, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, and flame resistant clothing is required. Safety rules including OSHA and DOT requirements are strictly enforced. Employees must be willing to travel and work extended hours on short notice.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Less than 5%- Travel may be required for mandatory meetings or training
