Our work includes reviewing H&H designs and studies; collaborating with other statewide discipline offices (Divisions) and the geographic regional offices (Districts); managing technical consultants; developing and managing a large training portfolio; maintaining the TxDOT Hydraulic Design Manual; identifying and leading on emerging issues (e.g., fluvial geomorphology, resilience); participating in research projects performed by Texas Universities and translating that knowledge into practical guidance and design criteria, and; implementing and participating in the transition from 2D to 3D design, digital delivery, and digital construction. Engineering Assistants also participate in job rotation and supported in working toward engineering licensure.
NOTE: All employees classified as Engineering Assistants are required to participate in the Engineering Assistant Career Development program. Participation in the Engineering Assistant Career Development Program (EACDP) requires that employees sign a Program Agreement, which outlines employee responsibilities and service time commitment.
