The Junior Design Technician is responsible for creating accurate and efficient designs for wall, floor, or roof systems to meet client specifications and building code requirements. This role works closely with project managers, estimators, and production teams to ensure designs are both practical for manufacturing and compliant with engineering standards. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, proficient in design software, and able to problem-solve in a fast-paced construction environment.

Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position with the working hours of 8:00AM-4:00PM Monday-Friday. The starting wage will range between $25-$35 per hour depending on experience levels. Group benefits are available after a successful 90 day probation period.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed design drawings for wall truss systems using specialized CAD software.
  • Interpret architectural and structural drawings to produce accurate layouts and design solutions.
  • Ensure all designs meet applicable building codes, engineering standards, and client requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers to review and approve final designs.
  • Provide technical support to project managers, estimators, and production teams.
  • Make design adjustments as needed based on field changes, engineering input, or customer requests.
  • Prepare bills of materials and ensure accuracy for manufacturing and project costing.
  • Communicate with customers, contractors, and architects to clarify design requirements and resolve issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of projects, revisions, and approvals.
  • Support continuous improvement by contributing to design efficiency and innovation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • Diploma or certificate in Architectural Technology, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in structural design, truss design, or construction design preferred.
  • Proficiency in design/drafting software.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
  • Excellent mathematical, spatial, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and time management.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
