Role summary

This position is ideal for experienced data and financial operations professionals to join the FinOps Team in the Cloud & Platform Engineering Group as a Senior Data Analyst, FinOps, supporting the operation, evolution, and optimization of the company’s cloud financial management practices. Partnering with Software Engineering, Finance, Cloud Guardrails, and Procurement, you’ll provide insights, dashboards, and data-driven analysis to enable informed decision-making, improve cost efficiency, and strengthen cloud governance. This role is key to ensuring effective multi-cloud financial operations across AWS, AWS China, GCP, Azure, and Alibaba.

Key Responsibilities

Role expectations

• Support and evolve the company’s Data Lakehouse FinOps solution, integrating raw data from AWS S3, GCP GCS, and Azure Blob Storage, and transformed data into QuickSight SPICE with tools like dbt Cloud.
• Contribute to the process of purchasing and managing Reserved Instances (RI) and Savings Plans (SP) in AWS, ensuring cost optimization and alignment with business needs.
• Participate in and support the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) for cloud budgets across AWS, AWS China, and GCP, working with Finance, Cloud Guardrails and Cloud Engineering partners.
• Perform Unit Economics and Scenario-Based cost allocation, enabling data-driven decisions and improving transparency of cloud consumption across organizations.
• Ensure data quality, validation, and monitoring for the FinOps platform, establishing trust in financial and operational reporting.
• Design, build, and maintain FinOps dashboards and reporting solutions for AWS, GCP, Alibaba Cloud, and Azure, enabling stakeholders to track spend, forecast, and optimize.
• Collaborate closely with Finance, Procurement, Engineering, and leadership teams to define KPIs, reporting standards, and cost governance processes.
• Provide data-driven recommendations for cloud cost optimization and strategic planning.
• Document and maintain standard operating procedures and reporting frameworks to ensure repeatability and accuracy.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

What we're looking for

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: 8+ years of experience in data analysis, cloud financial management (FinOps), or cloud cost optimization roles.
• Skills:
• Strong experience with cloud cost management and optimization across AWS, GCP, Azure, and Alibaba.
• Hands-on experience with data platforms (AWS S3, GCP GCS, Azure Blob), BI tools (QuickSight, Looker, or similar), and data transformation tools (like dbt Cloud).
• Familiarity with cloud pricing models including Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, and enterprise agreements.
• Expertise in financial planning processes such as budgeting, forecasting, and scenario modeling.
• Proficiency in SQL and scripting for data analysis and transformation.
• Strong background in data quality monitoring and data governance.
• Communication: Ability to translate complex financial and technical concepts into actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Teamwork: Collaborative and cross-functional mindset, with experience partnering across Finance, Engineering, and Procurement.

Complementary skills

• FinOps Certified Practitioner or Analyst certification.
• Familiarity with unit economics modeling for SaaS or cloud-native businesses.
• Knowledge of multi-cloud cost allocation tools and practices.
• Experience with automation of cloud financial workflows.
• Strong presentation and storytelling skills using data-driven insights.
