The Role

The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data across the organization. This position will be responsible for complex accounting tasks, financial reporting, analysis, government filings and audit support, while also helping drive process improvements and operational efficiencies. The ideal candidate would be a quick learner with strong analytical skills who thrives both independently and in collaborative team environments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex accrual calculations and allocations and their respective journal entries for domestic and international entities
  • Prepare and analyze monthly and quarterly financial statements
  • Conduct detailed variance analysis and provide insights to leadership team and management
  • Prepare and maintain various internal management and operational reports
  • Review, research and interpret current and historical financial data and resolve departmental inquiries concerning financial reports
  • Set up new financial and analytical reports to support evolving business and team needs
  • Manage full-cycle accounting for smaller subsidiaries
  • Document, monitor, and improve internal control procedures to ensure compliance and reduce risk
  • Perform complex reconciliations across key financial areas, including balance sheet accounts, benefit plans, and alignment of payroll data with general ledger records
  • Assist and lead efforts during annual financial audits and other regulatory or compliance audits
  • Perform and support complex government filings, ensuring compliance with federal, state and local regulations
  • Identify and lead process improvements to streamline accounting operations and increase efficiency
  • Conduct deep-dive financial and operational analysis to support business decisions
  • Supervise and mentor junior and staff accountants, reviewing reconciliations, journal entries, and ensuring accuracy
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data
  • Assist management with special projects and ad-hoc analyses

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required (Master’s preferred)
  • 8+ years of related experience, preferably in the professional services industry
  • Experience with computerized ledger systems (Microsoft Dynamics and Blackline experience preferred)
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS-Excel
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems is required
  • The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate superior analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Candidate also needs to have the ability to multitask, follow through and meet deadlines within tight timeframes
  • CPA Preferred

Compensation

The rate for this position generally is $120,000 - $150,000 annually. This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the New York Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful New York applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in New York or perform the position from New York. Similar positions located outside of New York will not necessarily receive the same compensation. Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted by New York Equal Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employee already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law. A potential new employee’s pay history will not be used in compensation decisions.
