Responsibilities

Incident & Problem Management

  • Respond to and resolve escalated infrastructure issues from L1 support.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions.
  • Collaborate with L3 engineers and vendors for complex issue resolution.

Infrastructure Operations

  • Monitor and maintain servers, storage, network devices, and cloud (Azure) infrastructure.
  • Perform routine maintenance, patching, and upgrades across systems.
  • Support backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity operations.
  • Develop and execute daily maintenance scripts for preventive monitoring and reporting.

Automation & Scripting

  • Create and maintain scripts (PowerShell, Bash, Python) to automate operational tasks.
  • Support deployment and configuration of infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Ansible or Terraform.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate documentation of systems, configurations, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external frameworks (ISO 27001, PCI-DSS).
  • Participate in audits and provide technical evidence as required.

Collaboration & Mentorship

  • Partner with application support, DevOps, and security teams to ensure smooth operations.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Contribute to change management and release planning processes.

Qualifications

Education & Certifications

  • 4-year degree in Information Science, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • ITIL Certification (Foundation or Expert v3 / Managing Professional / Master preferred).
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate.
  • Oracle Certified Professional – Oracle Linux or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect.
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).
  • VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV).
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) (for RKE pods).

Experience & Skills

  • 4+ years of experience in IT infrastructure support or systems administration.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows/Linux servers, virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), and networking.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and hybrid environments.
  • Skilled with monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds) and ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Jira).
  • Familiarity with FinTech or banking compliance standards is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a process-driven mindset.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to work in fast-paced, high-compliance environments.
  • Multi-country or Pan-African experience is advantageous.
