Job Description:

National Industrial Maintenance, Inc. is looking for skilled, dependable mechanics to join our growing fleet operations team. As a mechanic, you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing multiple engine and transmission combinations on a diverse fleet that serves industrial, municipal, and petrochemical clients throughout the region.

Job Details:

Position: Shop Mechanic

Location: East Chicago, IN

Pay: $36.70 per hour plus overtime

The Shop Mechanic is responsible for:

• Diagnose and repair diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, and drive components on a fleet that includes but not limited to medium-duty trucks and tractor trailers to specialty equipment such as trailers, vac trucks, guzzlers, hydro-excavators, and water blasters.
• Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) on trucks, trailers, and specialty equipment to reduce downtime and extend service life.
• Maintaining and repairing the mounted contractor's equipment contained on vehicles.
• Conduct DOT inspections, document findings and maintain accurate repair logs.
• Safely operate shop equipment, diagnostic tools, and specialty instruments.
• Collaborate with supervisors to prioritize and complete repairs quickly and effectively.
• Adherent to safety standards, company policies, and environmental regulations

Requirements:

• Valid Commercial Driver's License required.
• 5 years of experience as a diesel mechanic, heavy equipment technician, or similar role.
• Own tools, aside from specialty tools specific to companies’ equipment.
• Working knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
• Ability to pass safety training exams and background check required.
• Welding and fabrication skills a plus
• Must be able to lift 50+ lbs., work in a physically demanding environment, and occasionally respond to field service calls.
• Is conscientious, dependable, and quality-minded, while prioritizing safety.
