Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in Software Development.
• 5 years of experience designing, implementing, and operating production-grade autoscaling or capacity management systems for large-scale distributed services.
• 5 years of experience in Resource Management, Query Execution, or Distributed Scheduling within a data platform, cloud infrastructure, or related field.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 5 years of experience writing and debuging high performance multi-threaded code.
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.

It supports a wide range of data analytics use cases including reporting, business intelligence, data pipelines, and data marts and is used across many enterprise sectors including retail, finance, technology, and gaming. Our team-Workload management builds the interfaces and policies that allows users to configure their workloads. We also own the underlying systems like autoscalers, capacity placers and schedulers that implement those policies at runtime for each query and workload.

As a Staff Software Engineer on the BigQuery Workload Management team, you will be at the forefront of cloud computing, shaping the future of one of Google's most successful products. This is a high-impact role where you will see your work directly influence the success of our customers and the evolution of a key Google Cloud product.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

• Design and implement autoscaling policies that masterfully balance cost and performance.
