What You’ll Do
As a UPMC Paramedic, you’ll be a vital part of our emergency response team, delivering high-quality care in fast-paced, high-stakes environments. Your responsibilities will include:
- Administering basic and advanced life support in diverse settings
- Communicating with Medical Command and healthcare teams
- Performing emergency diagnostics and treatments
- Educating student paramedics and engaging in community outreach
- Maintaining equipment and vehicles for readiness
- Documenting patient care and ensuring confidentiality
- Promoting safety and wellness for patients and team members

Qualifications:
✅ Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- At least 1 year of experience in EMS (Advanced Life Support level) is preferred
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 100 pounds
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to different base sites as needed
- Must be eligible for Medical Command authorization from the Medical Director
- Completion of UPMC’s orientation program, including classroom training
- Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and specialized equipment
️ Licenses & Certifications (Required):
- Certified Paramedic in Pennsylvania
- Valid Driver’s License
- Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) or Emergency Vehicle Driver (EVD)
- EMSVO Certification (must be obtained within 90 days of hire)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR Certification
Clearances (Required with Renewal):
- Act 31 – Child Abuse Reporting
- Act 33 – PA Child Abuse History Clearance
- Act 34 – PA Criminal Background Check
- Act 73 – FBI Fingerprint Clearance
