What You’ll Do

As a UPMC Paramedic, you’ll be a vital part of our emergency response team, delivering high-quality care in fast-paced, high-stakes environments. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Administering basic and advanced life support in diverse settings
  • Communicating with Medical Command and healthcare teams
  • Performing emergency diagnostics and treatments
  • Educating student paramedics and engaging in community outreach
  • Maintaining equipment and vehicles for readiness
  • Documenting patient care and ensuring confidentiality
  • Promoting safety and wellness for patients and team members

Qualifications:

✅ Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • At least 1 year of experience in EMS (Advanced Life Support level) is preferred
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 100 pounds
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to different base sites as needed
  • Must be eligible for Medical Command authorization from the Medical Director
  • Completion of UPMC’s orientation program, including classroom training
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and specialized equipment

️ Licenses & Certifications (Required):

  • Certified Paramedic in Pennsylvania
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) or Emergency Vehicle Driver (EVD)
  • EMSVO Certification (must be obtained within 90 days of hire)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR Certification

Clearances (Required with Renewal):

  • Act 31 – Child Abuse Reporting
  • Act 33 – PA Child Abuse History Clearance
  • Act 34 – PA Criminal Background Check
  • Act 73 – FBI Fingerprint Clearance
