Position Summary

The Coordinator of Recreation Programs assists with all aspects of the Minot State Wellness Center services. Responsibilities include hiring, training, scheduling, management, evaluation, and development of Wellness Center student staff; enforcement of departmental and university policies & standards; handling patron conflict resolution; and coordination of space for programs, user groups, and events. This position will plan, schedule, execute, and evaluate staff training each semester, as well as periodic student staff meetings. Maintains professional relationships with other departments on campus via meetings and committees.

Responsibilities

  1. Develops, implements, and supervises a wide variety of quality indoor and outdoor recreational opportunities for students throughout the academic year.
  2. Recruits, hires, trains, and supervises student workers who assist with intramural sports, climbing wall, bike share, outdoor recreation, and kids camps.
  3. Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Wellness Center and the Division of Student Affairs at Minot State University to provide quality recreational and developmental experiences for students
  4. Develop, review, and enforce policies and procedures related to the climbing wall, intramural sports, bike share, and outdoor recreation
  5. Oversee and monitor the following recreation programs: climbing wall, intramural sports, bike share, and outdoor recreation

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree required
  2. Experience working in a campus recreation setting or similar environment is desirable
  3. Ability to work some evenings and weekend hours
  4. Strong verbal and written communication skills
  5. The successful candidate will have the ability to work in a diverse workplace
  6. Have good customer service skills
  7. Ability to collaborate and build relationships with students, faculty, and staff
  8. Experience in leading, mentoring, and supervising staff
  9. The ability to lead outdoor recreation experiences with students, faculty, and staff
  10. Management or work experience in an indoor rock climbing facility
  11. Experience working within a collegiate intramural program or similar setting
