Position Summary
Indiana University Bloomington (IUB) invites applications for multiple, tenure-track faculty positions in the field of computer engineering. This search seeks applicants at the assistant professor rank to serve as a member of the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering, and may hold appointments in any of its departments, including Informatics, Computer Science, or Intelligent Systems Engineering. These positions are part of a strategic initiative to launch and support our new Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering program.
We seek exceptional candidates whose research and teaching interests align with one or more of the following critical areas:
Successful applicants will be expected to develop an independent and externally funded research program, teach undergraduate and graduate courses in their area of expertise, and contribute to the continued growth and success of our computer engineering curriculum.
These 10‐month appointments would ideally start August 1, 2026, although an earlier or later start date is negotiable. Applications received by October 1, 2025, will receive full consideration, and applications will be accepted until the positions are filled.
Responsibilities: Tenure track faculty at Indiana University Bloomington are expected to substantially contribute to the overall academic excellence of their department by developing and/or maintaining a robust research portfolio including pursuing and obtaining major extramural research funding to conduct cutting-edge research both as a corresponding principal investigator and a collaborating investigator; teaching and mentoring a diverse population of students at the undergraduate and/or graduate level as designated by the department chairperson; and actively providing service within the department, school and university alongside active engagement with the profession and/or the community. Candidates with a special interest in the area of computer engineering are encouraged to apply.
These positions are located on the campus of Indiana University, Bloomington (IUB) in Bloomington, Indiana, and successful candidates are expected to work on the IUB campus to allow full engagement with the department, school, campus, and community. Indiana University bases its tenure and promotion recommendations upon performance in three areas including research, teaching, and service. All individuals hired through this initiative are expected to excel in research and provide strong performance in teaching and service.
Basic Qualifications
Qualifications: Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in computer engineering, computer science, or a related field from an accredited educational institution. Candidates must demonstrate potential for (or evidence of) excellence in research, teaching, and service.
