The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Senior & Long Term Care, Aging Services Bureau.

The Program Manager serves as the focal point for development and support of a responsive system of information, and assistance to meet the needs of our older adults, age 60 plus, adults with disabilities, family caregivers, as well as Area Agencies on Aging and service providers who implement the programs of the Aging Services bureau. The Program Manager provides oversight, leadership, training, support, and guidance to providers; participation in federal initiatives, oversight and leadership of grant activities, federal reporting requirements; management of the statewide database system; and establishing formal partnerships between aging, disability and Medicaid agency staff and other stakeholders to support a statewide system to become a fully functioning ADRC state.

Qualifications for this Career Opportunity

  • Knowledge of program development and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of aging and disability issues.
  • Skills in technical writing and verbal communications.
  • Skills in managing competing timelines and deadlines and managing the logistics of numerous, often complex projects.
  • Meet minimum qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, human services, or public administration
    • 2 years job-related work experience in program management of services to persons with disabilities and/or those in the aging community
    • Other combinations of education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis

Additional Information

This position is a mandatory reporter of suspect abuse, neglect, or exploitation of individuals over the age of 60 and those with disabilities over the age of 18.

This position may be eligible for partial telework within the state of Montana. Specific conditions will be provided by the supervisor and must adhere to state policy.

This position may be eligible for a statutory $1.00 an hour base pay increase effective July 1, 2025.

Training Assignment: This agency may use a training assignment. Employees in training assignments may be paid below the base pay established by the agency pay rules. Conditions of the training assignment will be stated in writing at the time of hire.
