The Facilities and Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the physical condition, cleanliness, and functionality of Sonic Drive-In buildings, equipment, and grounds. This role ensures all drive-ins are safe, operational, and meet Sonic’s high standards for appearance and service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine and preventative maintenance on kitchen equipment (grills, fryers, refrigerators, ice makers, etc.)
• Complete minor repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and building structures.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures and coordinate repairs with vendors when necessary.
• Maintain the overall cleanliness and appearance of the exterior grounds (parking lots, signage, landscaping).
• Conduct regular inspections of all facilities to identify potential safety or maintenance issues.
• Maintain maintenance logs and ensure timely completion of assigned work orders.
• Assist with equipment installations, remodeling, and special projects as needed.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, OSHA regulations, and company policies.
• Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests.
• Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of maintenance or facilities management experience (restaurant or retail setting preferred).
• Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and basic carpentry.
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work (climbing ladders, kneeling, standing for extended periods).

Additional Restaurant Team Member Qualifications…

Work Environment:

• Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, outdoor weather conditions, and cleaning chemicals.
• Must be willing to travel between multiple store locations if needed.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks.

• Must be able to crawl, scale, reach, squat, knee, stoop, bend and climbing of ladders… access top of buildings
