The Individual serves the department as Associate Athletic Director for Compliance. Individual will manage institutional control of the athletic programs and making appropriate recommendations to the Director of Athletics, the Faculty Athletics Representative and other appropriate University officials and departments in regards to NCAA Governance matters, as well as NCAA, ACC, and Institutional Policies and Legislation.

Job Summary

Oversees the Athletics Compliance Office, leads team, and develops a competitive strategy aligning with departmental goals. Evaluates the University's efforts to maintain institutional control of the athletic program and serves as a primary contact regarding compliance rule interpretation and questions. Maintains oversight of key National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) intuitional reports and other pertinent areas. Oversees various budgets and submits key NCAA intuitional reports.

Essential Functions

The individual will oversee all areas of the Athletics Compliance office, including education, monitoring, and enforcement. The individual will serve as one of the primary contacts for Athletics Department employees for compliance rules interpretation questions and will have the ultimate authority of such interpretation coming out of the Compliance Office. The individual will be responsible for formulating competitive strategy, problem-solving and troubleshooting with athletics employees to obtain individual, unit, and departmental goals. The individual will oversee other pertinent NCAA areas including the NCAA and ACC governance process keeping abreast of and developing new legislative concepts as well as obtaining and relaying institutional feedback to key stakeholders. Oversight of key NCAA institutional reports including forecasting, monitoring, and submitting of APR, GSR, and FGR data to NCAA; other NCAA and ACC research projects (e.g. sports sponsorship); and oversight of filing of NCAA and other waivers of NCAA legislation. The individual is also responsible for coordinating investigations of possible NCAA infractions and filing reports as needed. The individual will serve as a liaison to the NCAA as the institution’s Senior Compliance Administrator. The individual will serve as an athletics department liaison for Senate Athletic Committee, University Athletic Compliance Committee, Faculty Athletic Representative, Office of Internal Audit, Office of the Registrar, and the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid. The individual will coordinate the athletic department’s use of Peoplesoft and serves as Peoplesoft security contact for the Athletic Department. Additionally, the individual will oversee the Compliance Office Budget, the Student Assistance Fund Budget, and the Athletics Scholarship Budget.
