Job Description:

Hourly: $65/hr-$70/hr

Contract-to-hire

Onsite, Columbus, OH

We are seeking high-capacity, innovative engineers to join our team in building best-in-class enterprise APIs and production infrastructure. This role involves working closely with our Development Manager to deliver scalable, high-performance, and reliable solutions using modern technologies and cloud-native practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop modern REST APIs using Java Spring Boot.
  • Contribute to system architecture, including server layout, availability, disaster recovery, and production deployments.
  • Assist in software and data design, including:
    • Database schema and storage optimization.
    • Data mapping and transformation.
    • API design (call signatures, schema, business logic, resilience, logging).
  • Deliver high-quality, scalable, and recoverable software solutions.
  • Work with Kafka for event streaming, including setup, enrichment, and transformation.
  • Collaborate in an Agile environment, participating in 2-week sprints.
  • Integrate solutions into CI/CD pipelines with automated testing and deployment.
  • Maintain and evolve existing integration assets and systems.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Required Experience & Skills

  • 7+ years of software development experience, including API development.
  • 1+ years of experience with DevOps practices.
  • Strong Java development skills with Spring Framework, Maven, and Gradle.
  • Experience with both relational and non-relational databases.
  • Proficiency in Agile methodologies and team collaboration.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage tasks in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with REST, JSON, and SOAP web services.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub, JUnit).
  • Experience with deployment automation tools (e.g., Chef, Puppet).
  • Hands-on experience with Kafka and cloud platforms.
  • Knowledge of RDBMS and NoSQL databases like MongoDB or DynamoDB.
