Network Engineer (P3)
As a Network Engineer, you will work with the existing team to ensure adequate coverage of 24x7x365 operations in Japan Technical Assistance Center. You will mainly interact with TAC engineers, Escalation engineers and other functional groups within A10 to ensure highest level of customer satisfaction and help build a world class Support organization to support A10's overall success.
What you’ll be doing:
- Identify and troubleshoot advanced L4–L7 traffic issues involving SSL, HTTP, and other application layer protocols
- Analyze and optimize performance degradations caused by TCP retransmissions, session anomalies and application layer conflicts such as HTTP errors, redirect loops, timeouts, etc.
- Work with customer network, application, and DevOps teams to resolve integration issues, performance bottlenecks, and configuration challenges across diverse environments
- Troubleshoot ACOS issues across hybrid and multi cloud deployments like AWS, Azure, OCI, and GCP
- Troubleshoot application layer security issues related to WAF, SSLi and perform traffic analysis to detect and block DDoS attacks
- Collaborate with authorized professional services partners to troubleshoot and resolve implementation and deployment challenges caused by design gaps, software bugs or misconfigurations
- Collaborate with security teams to investigate application layer security incidents leveraging SIEMs and identity methods to analyze attacks and recommend detection and mitigation measures
- Use tools like tcpdump and wireshark to conduct packet level analysis to debug complex issues
- Use traffic generation tools such as Ixia, Spirent or Apache JMeter for simulating network and application traffic during testing and troubleshooting scenarios
- Reproduce complex customer environments in labs to simulate behavior, validate theories, and confirm software bugs
- Develop and maintain knowledge base articles, FAQs and troubleshooting playbooks to capture best practices and streamline issue resolution
- Provide mentorship and training to internal teams on debugging tools, packet analysis, and troubleshooting methodologies
What we need to see:
- 5+ years or more of relevant experience
- BS/MS in a computer related field or equivalent work experience
- Demonstrate strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Extensive knowledge and experience troubleshooting Layer: 2/3 protocols for example, VLANs, VRRP, OSPF, BGP, ISIS, IPv4/6, ARP, RIP, NAT
- Layer-4 protocols (TCP, UDP)
- Experience configuring and installing Linux applications
- Ability to install software packages
- Thorough understanding of DDoS attack mechanics and mitigation strategies
- Able to troubleshoot very complex problems involving multiple A10 products
- Basic competence in scripting, programming, or test methodologies
- Experience providing support to direct customers, resellers, and field personnel in resolving product related issues
- Contribute to technical documentation/knowledge base for internal and/or external use
- Duties may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends)
Way to stand out:
- Any of the advanced networking certifications is preferred (CCIE, CCNP, JNCIE, ISACA or JNCIP)
- Very good understanding of all A10 products, and SME-level understanding of at least three A10 products
- Experience with monitoring and alerting solutions
- Ability to work with 3rd party vendors on quotations, technical support, inquiries, etc.
- Ability to work outside field of expertise such as integration with Windows Active Directory environment, email, and networking
- Experience of deploying AWS, or AZURE
- Local and external authentication and access control
