As a leading company in the chemical industry, Covestro is actively driving its digital transformation. We are looking for you as an experienced Lead Developer (m/f/d) to advance our AI-powered application development and reduce our dependency on external software vendors. You will build a development practice that improves the speed and quality of our business-critical applications through innovative AI tools.

In addition to our diverse benefits, you can expect an attractive starting salary between €104,800/year and €127,100/year plus a variable component for a full-time position. The starting salary is based on your qualifications and professional experience.

These exciting tasks await you:

• You lead and coach an international, cross-functional development team and inspire them to develop innovative software solutions
• With your expertise, you establish architecture guidelines and implementation standards for AI-powered development workflows
• You ensure consistent quality by building robust QA processes and meaningful performance metrics
• As a pioneer, you scale an AI coding practice across all areas of Covestro and implement state-of-the-art practices, tools, and methodologies
• In software development, you drive the adoption of innovations, using AI coding assistants, intelligent agents, and automation tools
• Through strategic collaboration with key stakeholders, you identify new opportunities for AI-powered development solutions

You will convince us with this profile:

• You have a university degree in computer science, software development, or a related field and bring practical experience with AI tools in development workflows as well as genuine interest in AI-powered programming
• Your technical leadership experience demonstrates a successful track record in software delivery, e.g., in leading international DevOps teams and establishing effective development practices
• Your technical expertise includes AWS IaC with CDK, Single Page Applications, and serverless backend components
• You are proficient in modern programming languages like TypeScript/JavaScript as well as contemporary development methods (Agile, DevOps)
• Your agile mindset is characterized by transparency and continuous improvement
• With excellent communication skills, you convey complex technical concepts in an understandable way
• You are fluent in English for successful collaboration in our international environment, German language skills are a plus
