Laboratory Inspectors serve as critical members of the Environmental Health & Safety Department, supporting safe laboratory operations and assisting in the annual laboratory inspection process. Reporting to the Chemical Hygiene Officer, Lab Inspectors assist with the administration of the laboratory safety, radiation safety, shipping, fume hood, and safety shower programs. They also interpret and apply lab safety regulations, assist in the operation of existing safety programs, and assist in the enforcement/promotion of university policy.
The incumbent also performs other duties as requested; takes initiative to support a healthy work environment; strives to fulfill the terms in the Standards of Business Conduct; exemplifies the Virginia Tech Principles of Community; and supports the university’s motto, Ut Prosim (That I May Serve).
