Job Description

We are looking for a Lead Java Engineer for the Enterprise Services Layer (ESL) product team. ESL is an API product supporting various clients, including primary B2C Web teams and internal B2B teams. This position will be a contract and onsite in Miramar, FL.

Due to the specific legal and contractual requirements associated with this position, this role will be direct employment with CAI. This position does not offer work authorization sponsorship now or in the future.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop, enhance, and support Java API services based on incoming requirements and reported defects
  • Communicate and collaborate with client and backend teams
  • Contribute to the technical roadmap
  • Participate in production support
  • Deliver technical guidance to fellow Java Engineer team members
  • Guide the software solution process and provide options/recommendations on product/process improvements

What You'll Need

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a corresponding field
  • 10+ years of experience in software development and object-oriented systems
  • Experience with Product Engineering best practices and standards
  • Ability to analyze, design, and develop Microservices
  • Expertise in containerization and AWS deployments
  • Skills in performing unit and integration testing
  • Ability to investigate and resolve reported defects
  • Understanding of DevOps and Jenkins

Preferred:

  • Java versions 8, 11, 17, 21
  • Spring and Spring Boot
  • Kubernetes/Docker containers
  • Apigee API Management
  • SQL and DB2 – scripting and stored procedures
  • Kafka - data streaming
  • SOAP and REST
  • DevOps tools like Maven, Jenkins, SonarQube, SNYK
  • Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • APM tools (e.g., AppDynamics, Splunk Observability)
  • Prompt AI/Agentic AI tools (e.g., GitHub CoPilot, ChatGPT, Cursor, MCP)
  • AWS Developer Services, DCOS/Mesosphere, NoSQL (Cassandra/Couchbase), reactive event-driven programming, and GraphQL

Physical Demands

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards
  • Sedentary work involving sitting or remaining stationary most of the time, with occasional need to move around the office for meetings, etc.
  • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, using a mouse, keyboard, and monitor

The pay range for this position is $62.00-$65.000 per hour (USD). Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401k retirement account access. Employees in this role may also be entitled to paid sick leave as provided by applicable law.
