Job Description Summary:
This role leads the juice ingredient contaminants program and is responsible for advanced analytical analyses and global batch release of key ingredients to ensure compliance with company specifications and regulatory requirements. It operates in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025, the international standard for laboratory quality and competence; fosters cross-functional collaboration for capability development and issue resolution; and contributes to business planning, budgeting, and technical decision-making within the department. This position manages direct reports.
Essential skills for this position include in-depth, hands-on experience with chromatography and mass spectrometry techniques—such as LC, GC, LC-MS/MS, GC-MS/MS, and ICP-MS—as well as broad knowledge of trace analyses, sample preparation, and troubleshooting of analytical methods and instrumentations.
This position is based on site at our Florida Juice Quality Center in Apopka, FL. It reports directly to the Senior Director of Global Juice Quality. Applicants should possess demonstrated technical knowledge along with strong leadership skills, attention to detail, teamwork, excellent communication, strategic thinking, and a capacity for innovation.
What You’ll Do for Us
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the contaminants program to deliver best-in-class results and achieve ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation; organize workflow and task schedules to maximize laboratory efficiency; provide training and coaching to direct reports to foster individual growth and development.
- Lead the contaminants program and perform advanced, high-throughput testing of materials using analytical chemistry techniques and mass spectrometry expertise, including liquid and gas chromatography with MS-MS and ICP-MS; evaluate ingredients, intermediates, finished products, and report results.
- Lead research projects and develop or validate laboratory test methods and equipment, including sampling, monitoring, and analytical procedures, to ensure the reliability and accuracy of analytical results. May also include performing capability studies.
- Review and evaluate evolving regulatory MRLs for pesticides and trace metals; contribute to and help formulate action plans addressing regulatory changes within area of expertise and responsibility. Collaborate closely with the Ingredient Quality Department, Supplier Quality, Scientific & Regulatory Affairs, and other key stakeholders. May include interactions with suppliers and customers.
- Oversee the development of short- and long-term business plans for the contaminants program, ensuring alignment with broader Global Juice Quality objectives. Includes Capex planning for major instrumentation and equipment purchase or upgrade.
- Collaborate closely with other program managers within Florida Juice Quality Center, identifying needs, providing instrumentation support and sharing best practices for operation, maintenance and new analytical method development.
- Provide strong leadership in streamlining laboratory operations while cultivating a culture of trust, empowerment, and continuous improvement where individuals feel valued, inspired, and equipped to reach their full potential.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Master's Degree in Chemistry or Advanced Science required, Doctorate preferred.
- 4-10 Years Lab Experience preferred (work & education considered)
- Comprehensive understanding of juice ingredient chemistry, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), safety regulations and quality assurance processes related to juice components in Company products.
- Proven expertise in integrating advanced analytical instrumentations (e.g., LC, GC, LC-MS/MS, GC-MS/MS, ICP-MS) and applying appropriate techniques to analyze juice ingredients.
- Extensive experience in method development and validation, with strong skills in sample preparation across diverse matrices and in performing qualitative and quantitative analyses of trace components.
- Demonstrate subject matter expertise in analytical chemistry to evaluate data and make informed decisions, provide solutions to problems, and offer educated opinions on ingredients or other substances in support of bottlers and customers.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills by serving as a scientific, regulatory, technical, and quality expert and consultant—providing general contaminants program related information and responding to targeted inquiries from the field and cross-functional departments
- Proven experience with LIMS systems in laboratory operations, coupled with a strong awareness of automation and robotics initiatives that support building the laboratory of the future.
- Manage and provide direct reports with leadership, guidance, and coaching to drive the achievement of work objectives and enhance performance and skills.
- Demonstrate strong leadership by setting agendas and priorities, remaining agile, motivating and inspiring others, and effectively managing conflict and ambiguity. Foster development of both self and team to prepare for future roles, actively seeking and providing feedback and coaching to support continuous growth.
- Proficiency in Power BI, Tableau, and SQL, along with knowledge of statistics, are preferred additional computer skills.

Pay Range:
$131,000 - $153,000
Base pay offered may vary depending on geography, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position, is offered.
