A Brief Overview

The Accounting Analyst, Structured Finance analyzes, reconciles, compiles and coordinates periodic financial data and results based on a US GAAP and Statutory basis and prepares financial reports for the business unit, area, or function. Provides explanations of financial results and analysis of results to plan. Ensures accurate, reliable and timely financial and management reporting.

The Accounting Analyst, Structured Finance role enjoys an onsite work schedule in Chesterfield MO.

What you will do

  • Performs month-end financial reporting functions for the business unit, area or function, which may include any or all of the following:
    • preparation of general ledger uploads; reconciling various ledger accounts
    • updating, reconciling and recording financial results
    • analysis, compiling and reporting of data based on a US GAAP and Statutory basis
    • preparation of bank reconciliations
    • reconciliation of various accounts
  • May review and/or verify journal entries, account balances, and accounting classifications
  • Works with other functional and corporate areas in RGA to achieve accuracy, efficiency, and effective accounting practices and procedures and responds to requests from other functional areas on various inquiries.
  • Assists with report development and/or updates; addresses financial reporting related questions raised by business unit, area, or function.
  • Shares technical expertise with others; recommends process improvements, provides functional advice and/or training as needed.
  • Serves as liaison to other business units, areas and functions as needed.
  • Maintains SOX documentation and provides as needed; may assist with year-end audit and other internal audits as needed.
  • May assist with annual budget and planning, process and analysis.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent related work experience
  • 5+ years accounting or auditing experience
  • Intermediate Excel and SQL/Query skills, Basic Word
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting/finance theory, application, financial reporting and Statutory and GAAP accounting.
  • Ability to perform accounting analysis and provide written explanations of actual results to plan
  • Ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted solutions
  • Ability to be flexible, take initiative, and demonstrate accountability.
  • Intermediate oral and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and impart knowledge.
  • Adaptable to new methods, work under tight deadlines and fast paced conditions.
  • Intermediate level of investigative, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Intermediate interpersonal skills
  • Ability to set goals and handle multiple tasks, clients, and projects simultaneously; Ability to appropriately balance priorities, deadlines, and deliverables

  • General business knowledge
  • PeopleSoft/other accounting software applications and insurance/reinsurance financial reporting experience preferred

Compensation Range:

$76,100.00 - $108,050.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
