Machine Operator - Process Technician - Kearny Mesa - 1st Shift

Job Description

A Process Technician performs various functions associated with manufacturing operations, working closely with engineers and operators to set up and calibrate tasks. This role includes performing rework and quality testing related to the production of parts, components, subassemblies, and final products. The technician uses programs to collect and evaluate operating data for in-line adjustments to parts, instruments, or equipment. They update and may assist in developing methods and procedures to control or modify the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and document the operation of machines in a production environment.
  • Maintain the flow of production parts, report inconsistencies, and suggest improvements in the production process.
  • Troubleshoot complex or troublesome equipment, potentially working with the facilities team or outside vendors for repair or modification.
  • Run engineering tests prescribed by engineers and perform periodic calibration checks.
  • Recommend process improvements based on test and process results, and troubleshoot machine set-up.
  • Visually inspect parts at required steps in the process with attention to detail, ensuring parts are within specified tolerances.
  • Disposition reject parts and train operators and inspectors to improve efficiency.
  • Maintain and order/track tools according to safety and vendor recommendations, using measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers, CMM, and other optical tools.
  • Participate in the 5S program.
  • Accurately enter data into spreadsheets and create graphs using Excel.
  • Set up/program production or test machinery.
  • Read specifications and mechanical drawings.
  • May assign and check work of lower-level technicians and operators, and perform the duties of an operator or material handler as needed.
  • Comply with applicable policy requirements, ISO 9000, ISO requirements, and ITAR regulations.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in clean room and semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Skills in inspection and process operation.
  • Ability to set up and troubleshoot automated process equipment and perform microscope inspections.
  • Proficiency in production troubleshooting and cleanroom operations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1-2 years of prior manufacturing experience.
  • Must be a US Person for ITAR requirements with proof of citizenship or green card.

Work Environment

Work in a microelectronic cleanroom manufacturing environment consisting of approximately 30 employees. The environment is controlled, deadline-driven, and quality-driven.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, California.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $19.50/hr.
